Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration, Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemenimipas), has conducted an investigation regarding information about the disruption of the Indonesian electronic visa or e-Visa system, which allegedly caused the leak of 3 million immigration data on social media, and confirmed that it is a hoax.

“(The info) is a hoax,” said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Hendarsam explained that the Directorate General of Immigration has given special attention to the incident and immediately conducted checks on the day the news was received.

“It is not true that immigration data has experienced a leak,” he stated.

According to him, evidence that the information is false is based on the circulating post which claims that it has not been verified and the credibility of the poster is low because it uses a new account.

He explained that from the initial investigation, differences were found in the database fields that circulated compared to the immigration database fields.

“We assure that there is no direct access to the immigration database, and the data is suspected to originate from misused user service logins,” he revealed.

This immigration data leak information circulated in a social media post. The immigration data was leaked and traded on the dark web site. The account owner claimed to have leaked 3 million data from the Indonesian e-Visa website (https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/).

The account owner stated that the data includes passport numbers, full names, visa status, and visa identifiers.

Hendarsam emphasised the commitment of the Directorate General of Immigration to optimise comfort and security in all immigration services.

“Immigration continues to commit to optimising comfort and security in all immigration services,” said Hendarsam.
