Directorate General of Customs and Excise reveals four main focuses in 2027 policy

Director General of Customs and Excise Djaka Budhi Utama revealed four main focuses in the policy, work plan, and indicative budget of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) at the Ministry of Finance for 2027. Djaka stated during a working meeting with Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, Monday, “The first is healthy and sustainable fiscal management. This policy is directed at increasing customs facilities to attract investment, boost exports, and support downstream industrialisation.” Furthermore, this measure is strengthened by optimising special zone facilities; increasing exports of micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) products; and strengthening international customs cooperation. The second focus for DJBC next year is public protection and economic support, which includes strengthening capacity and revitalising supervision in maritime areas, borders, coastal areas, ports, and airports. Meanwhile, the third focus is optimising state revenue, carried out through, among other things, intensifying tariff policies, excise on tobacco products, and import duty rates on certain commodities. “Extensification of revenue objects and expansion of the revenue base in line with economic developments and community needs, strengthening customs valuation, developing more adaptive goods classification, and strengthening joint programmes within the Ministry of Finance,” Djaka said. According to Djaka, the final focus of DJBC in 2027 is strengthening services and management governance of the organisation, human resources, and information technology. “The policy is directed at forming a more dynamic and adaptive organisation, perfecting business processes in customs and excise, strengthening the competence and integrity of human resources, perfecting the core system, and smart customs,” Djaka explained. He added that the DJBC’s 2027 work plan is structured to support the national development theme of accelerating quality growth through productivity, investment, and quality industry. “Based on the 2027 framework that we have submitted, DJBC’s funding needs are allocated through three main programmes with a total indicative budget for the 2027 fiscal year of Rp2.81 trillion,” Djaka stated. The breakdown includes the fiscal, financial sector, and economic policy programme with an allocation of Rp4.159 billion, the state revenue management programme with an allocation of Rp749.37 billion, and the management support programme with an allocation of Rp2.056 trillion.
