Directorate General of Corrections Prepares WFH Scheme Related to Energy Savings
JAKARTA - The Director General of Corrections (Dirjen Pas), Mashudi, stated that his office is beginning to prepare regulations for work from home (WFH) or remote working to anticipate the global energy crisis following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
“For WFH, we are awaiting instructions from the Minister of Law and Human Rights, and certainly the Minister will receive instructions from higher authorities, which we are waiting for,” Mashudi said at the Ditjen Pas office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Mashudi explained that the WFH scheme is regulated for office employees and those assigned to Correctional Institutions (Lapas) and Detention Houses (Rutan).
“Certainly, we will not reduce it fully because it provides services and guidance, among others. We will determine the SOP within the lapas and rutan,” he said.
Previously, the government is set to announce a policy related to work from home (WFH) for civil servants (ASN) and private sector workers.
This WFH policy emerges as one of the government’s steps to save on budgets following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
“Just be patient, be patient, I hear it’s very likely, possibly, to be officially announced tomorrow,” said Tito at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).
When asked about which days would be WFH, Tito declined to reveal it.
“So, I don’t want to preempt,” he said.
After the official announcement, Tito, as the Minister of Home Affairs, will also provide further guidance to local governments (Pemda).
