Director of PO Cahaya Trans Named Suspect in Fatal Krapyak Toll Road Crash

The President Director of PT Cahaya Wisata Transportasi, Ahmad Warsito (AW), has been named a suspect in the fatal PO Cahaya Trans bus crash on the Krapyak toll road in Central Java, which claimed 16 lives.

The fatal accident on the Semarang inner-city toll road occurred on 22 December 2025.

“The suspect failed to carry out supervisory functions over the bus’s operations,” said Semarang Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner M. Syahduddi in Semarang on Wednesday (18 February).

According to him, the suspect allegedly knew that the bus operating the Bogor-Yogyakarta route did not possess a route permit or inspection card issued by the Ministry of Transport, yet continued to operate it.

He stated that the Cahaya Trans Bogor-Yogyakarta route had been running since 2022.

PT Cahaya Wisata Transport had illegally operated the Bogor-Yogyakarta route, which had never held a permit nor had any documentation related to the processing of a permit for that route.

The suspect is also alleged to have failed to establish standard operating procedures for the recruitment of bus drivers.

“The suspect should have verified the validity of the driving licence held by the driver operating the bus,” he said.

He stated that the driver had not received proper training.

The bus involved in the crash had in fact been issued traffic violation notices twice, in November and December 2025, for lacking the required legality documents.

For his actions, the suspect has been charged under Article 474 paragraph 3 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, concerning negligence resulting in death.

In connection with the same fatal crash, Semarang Metropolitan Police had also previously named the bus driver, identified by the initials GIF, as a suspect.
