Director of LPDP Urges Alumni to Uphold Morality and Ethics

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Director of the Endowment Fund Management Agency (LPDP), Sudarto, has asked its alumni to uphold morality, ethics, and national values.

He reminded that the funds used by scholarship recipients come from taxes paid by the public.

“I need to convey to all LPDP alumni, please in the future, maintain ethics, morality, and national values,” said Sudarto in a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta, Wednesday evening.

Sudarto also expressed his apology for the actions of LPDP scholarship alumni that have offended the public.

However, he said that many LPDP alumni are carrying out the mandate to contribute to the country well, distributed in various regions of the country and types of work.

“Some are teachers in remote areas, some are lecturers in universities, some are entrepreneurs, civil servants (PNS), and many are bringing the name of Indonesia to the world stage,” he said.

Until 2026, the LPDP scholarship program has supported 58,444 degree scholarship recipients, as well as 583,171 participants in collaborative programs with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), and 42,160 recipients of collaborative scholarships with the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In the field of research, LPDP has funded 3,861 research projects through the Endowment Fund for Research.

LPDP also provides funding to 23 universities to encourage capacity building towards world-class universities, and channels support to 3,554 recipients of the Endowment Fund for Culture for the advancement of culture and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Starting in 2021 to 2026, the scholarship program is directed more measurably towards strategic fields, including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), food and marine industries, energy, health, defense, digitalization (including artificial intelligence and semiconductors) as well as downstream industries, manufacturing, advanced materials, entrepreneurship, and the creative industry.

LPDP recorded that currently there are approximately 38 thousand scholarship recipients who are studying.
