Director General Hendarsam Urges Immigration to Understand President's Stance on Global Dynamics
Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Ditjenim Kemenimipas), Hendarsam Marantoko, stated that immigration has a unique character. This is because, in addition to carrying out technical implementation tasks, he said, Immigration must understand the direction of President Prabowo Subianto’s thinking in responding to global dynamics.
According to him, sensitivity and understanding of Prabowo’s stance direction regarding the current global dynamics are important for the Immigration ranks. It is known that the duties and authority of Immigration concern the crossing of people entering and leaving Indonesian territory as well as supervision to maintain the enforcement of Indonesia’s sovereignty.
“The Directorate General of Immigration has a distinctiveness and uniqueness. Not only as a technical implementer, but it must be able to provide or read the mindset of Mr President. That is the most important, how to respond to the situation and global dynamics. Perhaps that is our shared concern,” said Hendarsam at the Jusuf Adiwinata Hall, Kemenimipas Office, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
On this occasion, Hendarsam also emphasised ensuring Immigration’s contribution to implementing points in the Asta Cita. Hendarsam said that Minister of Imipas Agus Andrianto has launched 15 work action programmes for 2026 as derivatives of Asta Cita, and seven of them are in the immigration domain.
“We will realise Asta Cita, one of which is about legal reform. And its derivative (Asta Cita), the Minister has implemented it through 15 action programmes in 2026, where seven of them are specifically programmes for the Immigration Directorate. Of course, as the new Director General of Immigration, we will not deviate from that corridor,” he explained firmly.
It is known that Hendarsam officially assumed the position of Director General of Immigration after being inaugurated by Minister of Imipas Agus Andrianto this morning. The inauguration and oath-taking of office is based on Presidential Decree Number 187/TPA and Presidential Decision 188/TPA of 2025 on the Appointment of High Middle Officials in the Environment of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.
The inauguration ceremony and oath-taking of Hendarsam as Director General of Immigration was attended by other high middle leaders of Kemenimipas, expert staff, special staff, ministerial expert personnel, main functional experts, and high primary leaders of the main units of Kemenimipas. Observations at the location showed that former KPK investigator Novel Baswedan, founder of Lokataru Foundation Haris Azhar, and former Head of KPK Employee Container Yudi Purnomo were present as invited guests and witnessed Hendarsam’s inauguration.
Other invited guests present at Hendarsam’s inauguration as Director General of Immigration included Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Habiburokhman, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Rano Al Fath, Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Budisatrio Djiwandono, Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the DPR Dewi Asmara, Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the DPR Andreas Hugo Pareira, member of Commission III of the DPR Nazaruddin Dek Gam, Head of Public Relations for Human Resources of the National Police Brigadier General Budhi Herdi Susianto, to advocate Saor Siagian.
