Direct Flight from Beijing Daxing Opens, Boosting Bali-China Air Connectivity

Air connectivity between Bali and China has increased with the opening of a direct flight route from Beijing Daxing to Bali, operated by China Eastern Airlines. The Beijing Daxing-Bali route is scheduled to operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This makes Beijing the fifth city in mainland China to have a direct flight connection to Bali, after Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xiamen, and Chengdu. General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Nugroho Jati, expressed gratitude and appreciation to all parties for the operation of this new route. The inaugural flight departed from Beijing and arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Saturday evening. The flight, MU889, was serviced by an Airbus A330 aircraft. A total of 287 passengers departed from Beijing Daxing International Airport at 15.43 local time and landed in Bali at 22.55 WITA. The aircraft then operated the return flight, Bali-Beijing Daxing, on Sunday at 00.48 WITA as flight MU890, carrying the same number of passengers. Nugroho stated that the direct Beijing-Bali flight will further strengthen air connectivity and enhance Bali’s competitiveness as a world-class tourist destination, especially as China is the second-largest source of foreign tourists to Bali. Up to the first half of 2026, the number of Chinese tourists visiting the Island of the Gods reached approximately 297,000. He expressed confidence that the new route will ease accessibility and encourage growth in tourist visits from China to Bali. Beijing Daxing officially becomes the 42nd international route served by I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport through direct flights. The airport currently serves 42 international routes operated by 43 airlines, both national and foreign.
