Diplomat's wife killed in accident
PRETORIA (AFP): Malaysia's ambassador to South Africa, Kadir
Deen, was in a serious condition in hospital yesterday after a
car accident in which his wife was killed and two of their
children were injured.
Deen and his family were traveling home to Pretoria on Sunday
when their car rolled on a highway near the farming town of
Estcourt in the eastern province of Kwa Zulu-Natal, according to
the SAPA news agency.
His wife, Sara Ibrahim Deen, was killed instantly when she was
flung against the roof of the car. His 18-year-old son broke an
arm while his seven-year-old daughter broke her collar bone.
Deen was initially taken to hospital in Estcourt but SAPA said
two medical emergency helicopters have been chartered to fly Deen
and his family to Pretoria where they will receive specialized
care.
