Dino Patti: Indonesia Must Push for Compliance with US-Iran MoU for Peace

Founder of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) Dino Patti Djalal believes Indonesia must continue to encourage all parties to comply with the commitments of the peace agreement between Iran and the United States in order to maintain stability. “So, we in Indonesia must push all parties to adhere to their commitments,” Dino said after a public discussion themed Mid-Year Geopolitical and Economic Outlook 2026 at the FPCI Secretariat in Jakarta on Friday. Regarding the Iran-US memorandum of understanding (MoU), Dino admitted he is still observing the progress of its implementation on the ground. “I saw the MoU was signed in Versailles yesterday. I am still monitoring its developments and we will see how the implementation goes,” he said. He emphasised that every agreement requires strong discipline and commitment from all parties. Dino cited several agreements related to Gaza that have been signed, yet in practice have been repeatedly violated. Therefore, he considers oversight of the implementation of agreements to be extremely important. He also highlighted the increasing international pressure on Israel amid developments in the regional situation. “Alhamdulillah, now it is Israel that is cornered, and that means there is a consequence for Israel,” he said. In the early hours of Thursday (18/6), Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) remotely to end the military conflict that has been ongoing since 28 February. The MoU also sets a timeframe for the US to lift its naval blockade, and for Iran to restore shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
