Din Syamsuddin to Deliver Eid al-Adha Khutbah at Al-Azhar Grand Mosque

Former Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah and former Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Din Syamsuddin, is scheduled to deliver the khutbah for the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Adha prayer at Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta. “This year’s Eid al-Adha khutbah will be delivered by Professor Hajj Muhammad Din Syamsuddin,” said Tatang Komara, Head of Al-Azhar Grand Mosque’s Office, during an interview in Jakarta on Monday. Tatang stated that the Eid al-Adha prayer will take place on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, in accordance with the government’s determination of the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH. The prayer will be led by Dr. Agus Nur Qowim. Tatang added that the mosque has prepared various areas, including the main field, mosque corridors, schools, and universities, to accommodate worshippers. “Insha’Allah, the capacity, if all areas are utilised, will be around 12,000 to 13,000 worshippers,” he said. He noted that the number of worshippers is expected to surge, as seen during previous Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Furthermore, Tatang added that there has been no official confirmation yet regarding the attendance of government officials or invited guests for the Eid al-Adha prayer at Al-Azhar Grand Mosque. “We are still awaiting confirmation for the prayer,” he said.
