Dimas wins national Formula Asia race

JAKARTA (JP): Dimas Danindro fulfilled his ambition and won the national Formula Asia race by collecting 80 points from two races in the second leg at Sentul circuit, near Bogor, on Sunday.

Dimas, the young driver from the YOI & Chalim Motorsport team, won the first race with a time of 19 minutes and 36.069 seconds. He failed to better the time in the second race, clocking 19:40.211.

"My ambition was to become a national winner and I succeeded. I understand the challenges I have to face to defend the title, since now I have to win the next series of the national Formula Asia races," Dimas said.

Aldo Reynaldo of Primajasa Motorsport took second place with a time of 19:55.223 and Thony Darmawan of Matari came third, clocking 20:01.755.

Satrio Hermanto, who was runner-up in the first race behind Dimas, could not compete in the second race because of a broken gearbox.

"If the gearbox was not broken, I am certain I could have won the race," Satrio said.

Moreno Soeprapto, the son of Tinton Soeprapto, who was once a national race driver, finished fourth with a flat tire.

In the Timor Touring Car race, Jimmy Lukita of Amiaw Motor Sport won first place with a time of 20:51.742. Andry SA of BULL Pulomas was second (21:03.777) and Fitra Eri finished third (21:12.135).

Apart from the Formula Asia and Timor Touring Car races, there were also motorcycle competitions (Sport Tune-Up 150cc, standard 135 and 150cc, and superbike) and Volkswagen "Beetle" races. (lnt)
