JAKARTA (13 May): Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I, Andina Thresia Narang, has emphasised that digital transformation is a key factor in accelerating Indonesia’s global investment and trade amid increasingly competitive world economic rivalry.

According to Andina, advancements in digital technology have significantly altered patterns of investment and trade, so Indonesia must adapt to avoid falling behind in the global economy.

“Digital transformation offers great opportunities for Indonesia to become a key player in the global economy. However, the readiness of society and strengthening digital literacy are highly determining factors,” said Andina on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

The statement was delivered at the Digital Literacy Webinar themed ‘Acceleration of Global Investment and Trade’, organised by the Directorate General of Public Communication and Media of the Ministry of Communication and Digital alongside Commission I of the House of Representatives.

The legislator from the NasDem Party Faction assessed that digitalisation opens up significant opportunities for Indonesia to expand market access, increase business efficiency, and attract investments in various strategic sectors.

However, she cautioned that these opportunities must be balanced with the readiness of human resources possessing strong digital capabilities and competitiveness.

Andina also underscored the important role of the younger generation in supporting national digital economic growth through innovation, digital entrepreneurship, and the development of technology-based creative industries.

“We must ensure that digital transformation is not only enjoyed by certain groups, but is able to provide broad benefits to society, including SMEs and the youth,” she stated.

The representative from the Central Kalimantan electoral district also highlighted the importance of creating a digital space that is safe, productive, and supportive of national economic growth.

According to her, collaboration between government, the private sector, academia, and society is key to building a healthy and competitive digital ecosystem.
