Digital Transformation and Business Innovation Drive Pupuk Kaltim to Platinum Award
PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur has received an award at the 2026 BUMN Awards in the corporation category for the Best Company Business Innovation subcategory with platinum distinction. The award was presented by BUMN Track in recognition of the company’s business innovations, which are considered capable of driving company growth and strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s national fertiliser industry.
The award was received by Pupuk Kalimantan Timur’s Director of Finance and General Affairs, Qomaruzzaman, in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
According to Qomaruzzaman, the award represents recognition of the company’s consistency in promoting innovation as a motor for business growth and as part of corporate transformation amid increasingly competitive dynamics in the fertiliser and chemical industry.
“This award represents confirmation that the innovations implemented by Pupuk Kaltim are capable of delivering tangible impact on improving company performance whilst supporting BUMN transformation towards a more adaptive and competitive organisation,” he said.
He explained that various company innovations have been implemented through improving operational efficiency, strengthening digitalisation of business processes, and developing products based on the utilisation of gas as the primary raw material.
This strategy forms part of Pupuk Kaltim’s vision to develop into an integrated agro-solution, chemical, and petrochemical company with global competitiveness.
A number of innovations have also focused on improving factory operational performance and optimising production facilities. One such initiative is the Synovation programme, which aims to improve operational efficiency at the Kaltim-5 Ammonia Plant through a breakthrough engineering approach.
The innovation includes improvements to critical equipment and optimisation of the ammonia synloop control system to continuously increase productivity.
Additionally, the company has accelerated digital transformation by developing several integrated systems such as iPerform, iPortlog, and iSmart, which enable real-time operational monitoring whilst improving logistics and production efficiency.
“Digital transformation is being developed in an integrated manner to improve operational efficiency, logistics management, and human resource productivity,” said Qomaruzzaman.
