Jakarta (ANTARA) - Molly Prabawaty, Expert Staff to the Minister of Communication and Digital for Public and Mass Communication (KPM), believes technology can help introduce Indonesian fashion and traditional textiles to the global stage.

Molly said the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is providing support through the strengthening of digital technology, particularly communications, by utilising various digital platforms to promote events showcasing designers’ work and the richness of the archipelago’s traditional textiles.

“Through digital platforms, we promote activities that primarily aim to elevate Indonesian fashion, even to make it known internationally, and it is certainly through digital technology that we do this,” Molly said after the opening of BTN Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday.

“Primarily through digital technology and social media, we hope these leading Indonesian fashion products can become well known both at home and abroad, and that people can easily own or wear clothing suited to their needs,” she said.

The Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) is staging BTN Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2026 under the theme “Ulos Simetria”, which champions the Indonesian fashion industry’s effort to maintain a balance between tradition and innovation.

BTN IFW 2026, held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta, from 29 July to 3 August 2026, will feature a wider range of designers and tenants from across Indonesia, with a programme covering fashion shows, trade exhibitions, talk shows, creative forums, entertainment performances, and culinary offerings designed to build a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable fashion ecosystem.
