JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The use of electronic signatures in Indonesia continues to surge, in line with the growing needs of the public and businesses for fast, secure, and flexible administrative processes.

Electronic Certification Provider (PSrE), Privy, recorded more than 32 million electronic signatures in the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents an almost 250 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025, which saw 10 million electronic signatures.

Privy’s CEO, Marshall Pribadi, stated that this growth reflects a shift in public behaviour towards more efficient digital services, while still demanding aspects of security and legal validity.

“Besides the flexibility and ease that encourage the public to increasingly switch to electronic signatures, legal validity and security guarantees are key drivers of Privy’s achievements,” Marshall said in a press statement on Monday (20/4/2026).

“Every individual user must go through a series of verification processes, such as personal data and biometrics, before being able to use Privy to ensure the digital identity of every signer,” he explained.

As an additional layer of protection, Privy also provides a certificate warranty of up to Rp 1 billion for verified users if the electronic signature used is proven to be inauthentic. In addition, users can check the authenticity of documents through the verification feature available on the platform.

“The public also receives protection guarantees in the form of a certificate warranty worth up to Rp 1 billion if an individual verified by Privy signs a document with a Privy electronic certificate that is proven to be inauthentic,” Marshall elaborated.

However, other sectors such as health and education are also beginning to increase their use of electronic signatures, indicating that this technology is becoming an important part of operational efficiency.

Marshall added that before digitalisation, document administration processes could take days to weeks due to involving physical printing and delivery. Now, the process can be completed in minutes in real-time.
