JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Viada Hafid, stated that TikTok has transparently reported the number of accounts deactivated. As of 10 April, around 780,000 accounts had been actioned. This figure has now increased to approximately 1.7 million children’s accounts under the age of 16 since 28 March 2026.

“This means TikTok is the first to report deactivation figures and shows that commitments are accompanied by concrete, transparent steps to the public,” said Meutya at the Komdigi Building on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

In addition to actions against children’s accounts, the government and TikTok also discussed enhancing the handling of digital crimes, including the prevalent practice of online gambling on digital platforms.

Nevertheless, she acknowledged the possibility of disruptions in the account regulation process, including accounts of adults being affected.

“Therefore, report immediately for normalisation, and it will be done quickly,” she explained.

The government urged affected users to report promptly so that accounts can be normalised quickly.

Furthermore, Meutya emphasised that these rules apply not only to TikTok but to all digital platforms operating in Indonesia.

The government called on platforms to follow compliance commitments with concrete actions and open reporting to the public through the ministry.

“We remind other platforms to immediately conduct self-assessments with a deadline of 6 June this year,” she said.

In the near future, the government will also receive compliance reports from Roblox. Meutya stated that further discussions on this matter will be conveyed in the coming days.
