JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi), Meutya Viada Hafid, has given a deadline until next week for digital platforms to promptly register with the government. “We remind other platforms to immediately conduct self-assessment with a deadline of 6 June this year,” said Meutya Viada Hafid at the Komdigi Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Compliance for these platforms is required by the government through Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP Tunas). Meutya Hafid stated that TikTok has transparently reported the number of accounts deactivated. As of 10 April, around 780,000 accounts had been actioned. That number has now increased to around 1.7 million child accounts under the age of 16 since 28 March 2026. “This means TikTok is the first to report deactivation figures and shows that commitment is accompanied by transparent concrete actions to the public,” said Meutya. This relates to platform compliance with Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP Tunas). In addition to actions against child accounts, the government and TikTok also discussed improving the handling of digital crimes, including the rampant practice of online gambling on digital platforms. Meutya emphasised that TikTok has submitted a more detailed and measurable compliance action plan going forward, including stricter user monitoring. “Therefore, report immediately for normalisation and it will be done quickly,” she explained. The government also urges affected users to report promptly so that accounts can be normalised quickly. Furthermore, Meutya stressed that this regulation applies not only to TikTok but to all digital platforms operating in Indonesia.
