Digital Literacy Becomes Key to Competitiveness, Hundreds of Lampung Students Deepen Knowledge of New Technologies
The ongoing digital transformation across various sectors is driving an increased demand for human resources with high-level technological skills. Amidst these changes, digital literacy is considered a primary key for the younger generation to enhance competitiveness and expand future career opportunities. The need for digital talent extends beyond mere technological usage to include an understanding of innovations being implemented in industries, ranging from artificial intelligence and blockchain to various decentralised digital systems.
This growing awareness of the importance of capacity building was evident in the high enthusiasm of students participating in technology education events held at various campuses. One such event was the Web3 University Tour 2026, hosted at the Sumatra Institute of Technology (ITERA) in Lampung. The programme, organised by Coinvestasi in partnership with Binance Academy and BNB Chain, was attended by hundreds of students eager to deepen their insights into digital technology developments and career opportunities within this expanding sector.
A total of 450 students registered for the event, with 315 participants attending the full day of activities. Lampung marks the third city in the Web3 University Tour 2026 series, following Yogyakarta and Bandung, with the tour set to continue to Bali, Surabaya, Malang, Samarinda, and Manado.
Niki Sekar Dewayani, Head of Community at Coinvestasi, stated that students must begin preparing themselves for the rapid pace of the digital industry. “Digital literacy is no longer an option, but a necessity. The faster students understand technological developments, the greater their opportunities to adapt and contribute to the continuously evolving digital economy,” said Niki. She added that the younger generation should view technological progress not merely as a trend, but as an opportunity to build competence and access emerging professions.
Representing Binance Academy, Serli Roisca explained that the changing global digital landscape creates a demand for a workforce with adequate technical abilities and technological understanding. She emphasised the importance of students building portfolios and skills during their university years to be better prepared for an increasingly competitive job market.
In addition to presentation sessions, participants engaged in interactive workshops introducing various digital technology concepts directly. Students learned about the mechanics of smart contracts, the use of digital wallets, and an introduction to the Decentralised Finance (DeFi) ecosystem. The workshops were led by developers from DevWeb3 Jogja, Yeheskiel Yunus Tame and Singgih Brilian Tara, both of whom are active in international technology development competitions.
Towards the end of the event, participants were given the opportunity to present their technological ideas and innovations through the ‘Cumlaude Web3’ session. Zhico Apta Pradita secured first place with the ‘NexusVault’ concept, followed by Stevanus Cahya Anggara in second place with ‘DePIN Clean Water’, and Rizal Kurnia in third place with the ‘Secure Agreement Hub (SAH)’ project. The first-place winners from each city will proceed to the national Cumlaude Web3 Final and may have the opportunity to join the Binance Academy Student Ambassador programme, providing access to mentoring, professional networking, and regional technology community development programmes.
