Digital Household Worker Platform CICANA Opens 10,000 New Jobs in 2025

JAKARTA – Amid economic pressures and rising post-pandemic unemployment, the informal sector has once again become a mainstay for Indonesian society. One increasingly accessible opportunity comes from the household workforce sector, including domestic helpers, babysitters, caregivers and elderly care workers.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as of February 2024, the number of unemployed in Indonesia exceeded 7.8 million, the majority from primary to secondary education backgrounds. The gap in access to formal employment has driven many to seek more flexible and readily available work opportunities.

In response to this challenge, PT Cicana Indonesia Corp (CICANA) — a digital company specialising in the provision and placement of household workers — has announced the opening of 10,000 new job vacancies in 2025.

"We see the reality that many household workers still do not receive adequate protection. CICANA is here to change that paradigm. At CICANA, workers are treated as partners," said Annisa Kartika, CEO of CICANA, in an official statement.

CICANA: A Digital, Official and Transparent Platform

CICANA is not a conventional placement agency. Supported by a modern digital recruitment system and standardised human resource management, CICANA has obtained OSS certification, a permit from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, and is registered under KBLI 78103 – Household Worker Placement Activities (APPRT).

The vacancies offered cover both live-in and live-out categories, with positions including domestic helpers, babysitters, nannies, caregivers and elderly care workers. The recruitment system is fully accessible via mobile phone, making it easier for prospective workers from various regions without having to visit the head office.

"Our target this year is to open 10,000 new jobs. We want to be a bridge between employer needs and workers' rights," said Bagus Dwi Prasetyo, Founder of CICANA.

A Solution for Unemployment and Worker Justice

Each month, more than 1,000 prospective employers or families register on the CICANA platform, with the highest demand coming from Greater Jakarta and major cities on Java. The platform enables rapid and secure matching between workers and employers, complete with a profile evaluation system and basic training prior to placement.

The key differentiator is CICANA's commitment to transparency and worker protection — no registration fees, no salary deductions, and no withholding of personal documents.

This initiative is seen as a breath of fresh air in Indonesia's informal employment landscape, offering new hope for job seekers who have long been marginalised from the formal employment system.
