Digital Financial Literacy Key for MSMEs to Avoid Payment Default Risks
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Digital financial literacy is considered a crucial foundation for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to sustain their businesses amid the growth of digital financial services.
Understanding financial management, productive use of financing, and digital transaction security is increasingly needed to prevent business operators from falling into problematic credit risks or misuse of financial services.
Adam Ultra Sjahbunan, Senior Manager of the PUJK Behaviour Supervision, Education and Consumer Protection Division at OJK Bali Province, said financing must be used responsibly to maintain healthy business finances.
He added that appropriate financing use can help balance business income and payment obligations.
“Thus, business income can balance with payment obligations. When used wisely, financing can help businesses grow more stably and avoid problematic credit risks,” he said.
Beyond financing management, understanding digital transaction security is also crucial as business operators increasingly use digital financial services.
“MSME development does not only depend on financial management skills, but also understanding how to operate safely in the digital era,” said Audrey.
She noted that financial literacy and digital transaction security can help MSME operators strengthen their business foundations amid financial technology developments.
“Through Pintar Bareng GoPay, in collaboration with OJK, Bank Indonesia, PPATK, and AFPI, we aim to help MSME operators strengthen their business foundations while understanding the opportunities and risks of digital financial technology developments,” she said.
OJK also appreciates financial education collaborations involving regulators and industry players to strengthen public financial literacy and inclusion.
“The OJK appreciates GoPay’s initiative and strategic partners in literacy programs like Pintar Bareng GoPay. This effort aligns with OJK’s mission to strengthen financial literacy and inclusion, especially for MSMEs, ensuring the public not only has easy access to financial services but also uses them wisely, productively, and responsibly,” said Adam.
The Pintar Bareng GoPay educational programme was held in Denpasar, Bali, and attended by around 150 MSME operators. The event involved OJK, Bank Indonesia, PPATK, and the Association of Joint Funding Fintech Indonesia (AFPI).
