Digital Edge Completes Topping Out of CGK1 and Secures PLN Power Supply Agreement
Digital Edge has announced two major achievements at its 500MW CGK data centre campus located in Bekasi, Greater Jakarta: the structural completion (topping out) of its first building, CGK1, and the signing of a new agreement with PT PLN (Persero) to increase secured power supply to 1.45 GW for the campus. This represents the largest power commitment ever secured for a single data centre campus in Indonesia, reinforcing the CGK Campus’s ability to support the rapid growth of hyperscale infrastructure and Artificial Intelligence (AI) requirements in Indonesia.
Secured since the early stages of project development, the 1.45 GW power supply agreement—structured via a 2 x 725 MVA scheme through two independent supply lines—is designed to provide a reliable dual-feed electrical architecture to support mission-critical workloads, including AI and cloud computing. With the power supply fully guaranteed for the entire CGK Campus, this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ensuring Indonesia possesses the large-scale electrical foundation necessary to support national digital economic growth.
As AI adoption accelerates, the availability of large, stable, and reliable power capacity from the outset is a crucial factor in developing scalable, high-performance data centres. With a total investment of US$4.5 billion, the CGK Campus is purpose-built for AI and data-intensive workloads, featuring robust and energy-efficient infrastructure. The facility is designed to target an industry-leading annualised PUE of 1.25, achieve LEED certification, integrate water recycling and renewable energy systems, and implement liquid cooling technologies to support AI workloads.
Developed to meet the needs of committed customers, CGK1 is scheduled to be operational by Q4 2026, followed by the second and third buildings in Q1 and Q2 2027, respectively. The President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, emphasised that PLN continues to play an active role in strengthening the national digital ecosystem, including the development of the data centre sector, through the provision of reliable and sustainable power supplies. He noted that the growth of the data centre industry reflects the rapid development of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem and that PLN is committed to supporting this strategic sector to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a digital economic hub in Southeast Asia.
Stephanus Oscar, CEO of Digital Edge Indonesia, explained that the topping out of CGK1, supported by the largest power supply agreement in Indonesian data centre history, reflects the company’s confidence in the nation’s long-term digital growth. He stated that alongside PLN, they are not merely building data centres but laying the foundation for Indonesia to compete at the highest level of the global AI economy.
The CGK Campus is strategically located less than 15 kilometres from other major data centre clusters in the Cikarang area and approximately 40 kilometres from Digital Edge’s EDGE1 and EDGE2 facilities in central Jakarta, offering low-latency access to major business districts. The campus will be supported by a fibre optic network and telecommunications assets from Indonet, Digital Edge’s wholly-owned telecommunications subsidiary in Indonesia, including new fibre optic lines built entirely underground to significantly enhance network reliability and resilience.
