Digital Economy Tax Collections Reach Rp 48.11 Trillion
The Directorate General of Taxation (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance has recorded tax receipts from the digital economy business sector amounting to Rp 48.11 trillion up to 28 February 2026. These digital taxes stem from the collection of Value Added Tax on trade through electronic systems (PPN PMSE), cryptocurrency taxes, fintech peer-to-peer lending or online loan (pinjol) taxes, and taxes from transactions for the procurement of goods and services through the government procurement information system (SIPP tax).
DJP Director of Outreach, Services, and Public Relations, Inge Diana Rismawanti, stated that this realisation demonstrates the increasingly significant contribution of the digital economy to state revenues.
“Although in February 2026 there were no new designations, revocations, or changes to PPN PMSE collector data, the performance of receipts from the digital economy sector continues to show a positive trend,” she said in an official statement quoted on Friday, 3 April 2026.
The total amount of digital tax derives from PPN PMSE deposits from 223 PMSE providers totalling Rp 37.4 trillion. This comprises deposits of Rp 731.4 billion in 2020, Rp 3.9 trillion in 2021, Rp 5.51 trillion in 2022, Rp 6.76 trillion in 2023, Rp 8.44 trillion in 2024, Rp 10.32 trillion in 2025, and Rp 1.74 trillion in 2026.
Cryptocurrency taxes have also contributed receipts of Rp 1.96 trillion up to February 2026. These receipts come from Rp 246.54 billion in 2022, Rp 220.89 billion in 2023, Rp 620.38 billion in 2024, Rp 796.73 billion in 2025, and Rp 84.7 billion up to 2026.
Meanwhile, the fintech sector has contributed tax receipts of Rp 4.64 trillion up to February 2026. Fintech tax receipts derive from Rp 446.39 billion in 2022, Rp 1.11 trillion in 2023, Rp 1.48 trillion in 2024, Rp 1.37 trillion in 2025, and Rp 233.12 billion in 2026.
Another source of digital tax receipts is the SIPP tax. Up to February 2026, SIPP tax receipts amount to Rp 4.11 trillion, consisting of Rp 402.38 billion in 2022, Rp 1.12 trillion in 2023, Rp 1.33 trillion in 2024, Rp 1.25 trillion in 2025, and Rp 18.1 billion up to 2026.
Inge assured that the government will continue to strengthen supervision, expand the tax base, and increase compliance among digital business actors through the optimisation of regulations and the utilisation of information technology.
