Digital economic development must be balanced with robust cybersecurity

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefly Harsya, stated that the development of a digital-based economy must be accompanied by robust cybersecurity to ensure the business continuity of creative economy practitioners.

“Cybersecurity is no longer merely a technical component; it is the foundation of trust that supports all digital economic activities, data protection, platform integrity, intellectual property protection, and the business sustainability of creative economy activities,” Riefky said during an event in Jakarta on Thursday.

He noted that the future of the creative economy depends on the creation of technology that builds products and generates innovations capable of competing in international markets. The President has mandated, during the World Government Summit 2025, a vision where every Indonesian citizen, from remote islands to the heart of Jakarta, must have equal opportunities to participate in the digital economy.

To achieve this target, Riefky identified three prerequisites: the development of reliable and secure super-platforms, the acceleration of digital transformation across all layers of the ecosystem, and the production of high-quality, globally competitive digital talent.

According to the Global Cyber Security Index (GCI), Indonesia currently ranks 24th out of 194 countries. Meanwhile, the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) places Indonesia at 84th out of 160 countries with a score of 47.5.

AI-based cybersecurity innovation serves as evidence of digital transformation born from the experience, competence, and creativity of the nation’s people, who understand both market needs and the digital security challenges faced by various industrial sectors. By combining the sophistication of AI with cybersecurity expertise, it is possible to deliver penetration testing processes that are faster, more adaptive, and more effective in identifying digital system vulnerabilities.
