Digital-based security devices become a weapon to avoid crime

The increasing number of motor vehicle thefts, acts of vandalism, and hit-and-run incidents that often occur in parking areas and on public roads is encouraging vehicle owners to utilise technology-based security devices. One such device is the dashcam, which now not only functions as a journey recorder but is also capable of directly monitoring the vehicle’s condition remotely in real time.

CEO & Co-Founder of PT Super Spring, Arianto Furiady, stated that until now, GPS trackers could only help users know where their vehicle was located, whereas dashcams helped users understand what had happened. “Through Dekkalive, we are presenting a new experience that allows users to know what is currently happening to their vehicle in real time. This is the essence of the Online Dashcam concept we want to introduce,” said Arianto Furiady in an official statement on Thursday.

This technological development is in line with the growing vehicle population in Indonesia. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of motor vehicles in Indonesia has reached more than 166 million units, including over 20 million passenger cars. According to him, the latest dashcam technology allows vehicle owners to view the condition of their car via smartphone as long as the device is connected to a cellular network. This feature can be used to monitor the vehicle when parked or when used by family members, drivers, or vehicle renters.

In addition to direct monitoring, dashcams with front, cabin, and rear cameras are considered capable of expanding the scope of surveillance so that every activity around the vehicle can be documented. The recordings can also serve as supporting evidence in the event of an accident, theft, vehicle damage, or traffic disputes. The use of a dashcam should ideally be combined with other preventive measures, such as parking in well-lit locations, using additional security systems, ensuring the vehicle doors are locked, and not leaving valuables inside the cabin.

The utilisation of vehicle monitoring technology is expected to continue growing along with increasing public awareness of security aspects. For private vehicle owners and business operators managing fleets, the presence of a real-time monitoring system is an alternative to minimise the risk of vehicle loss while accelerating the response when an incident occurs. During the GIIAS 2026 event, Dekka opened a pre-order programme for the Dekkalive Trio at an introductory price of Rp3.4 million, down from the normal price of Rp3.9 million.
