Digital banks are currently increasingly relied upon for various daily transaction needs, such as topping up digital wallet balances (e-wallets), QRIS payments, and online shopping. With the rising adoption of non-cash transactions, the public now prioritises practical, fast, and interconnected digital financial services. Consequently, connectivity with digital ecosystems, such as e-commerce and digital wallets, has become a crucial factor in driving adoption. Bank Indonesia (BI) data shows that digital payment transactions in Indonesia continue to grow rapidly, with volumes reaching 14.28 billion transactions in the first quarter of 2026. Growth has also occurred across various channels, including mobile and internet banking, as well as QRIS, which saw a significant annual increase of 116.45 percent (year-on-year). From an infrastructure perspective, retail payment systems like BI-FAST have recorded strong growth, reflecting the high demand among the public for fast and efficient digital transaction services to support daily activities. In the latest survey from Ipsos Indonesia through the 2026 Survey on Perceptions and Satisfaction of Users towards Digital Banking Services in Indonesia, conducted online in April 2026, ease and speed of transactions emerged as the primary reasons for using digital banks (71 percent). Additionally, the completeness of daily transaction features also proved to be an important factor (66 percent). “These results indicate that users are now increasingly selective in choosing digital financial services. Not only from the financial services aspect, but also the ease of connecting with various daily transaction needs has become a prioritised factor,” stated Managing Director of Ipsos Indonesia, Hansal Savla, in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
