Digital Banks Gain 30 Million Customers in Five Years
The digital transformation of Indonesia’s financial sector continues to show strong acceleration. Bank Indonesia recorded that the volume of digital payment transactions in the first quarter of 2026 reached 14.39 billion, a 33.76 percent year-on-year increase. The most striking growth occurred in QRIS transactions, which surged by 111.94 percent compared to the same period last year, driven by wider acceptance, a growing user base, and an increasing number of merchants.
In line with this trend, SeaBank Indonesia has seen significant growth over the past five years since launching its digital banking application nationally on 7 July 2021. By the end of March 2026, SeaBank’s customer base had surpassed 30 million. Daily transaction activity on the platform is also high, with an average of more than 13 million transactions and a daily fund turnover exceeding Rp6 trillion throughout March 2026.
SeaBank Indonesia President Director Sasmaya Tuhuleley stated that the national digital economy’s development has changed how people utilise financial services. ‘In the last five years, we have seen significant changes in how people save, transact, and make payments digitally. SeaBank will continue to provide a banking experience that is easy, secure, and relevant to the needs of modern society,’ he said.
To celebrate its five-year milestone, SeaBank is running a ‘Serba Lima’ promotional campaign from 7 to 11 July 2026. The offers include purchases using SeaBank QRIS for Rp5,000 on selected products at Indomaret, and Rp15,000 cashback with a minimum transaction of Rp20,000 at Alfamidi, Lawson, and FamilyMart. Discounts of up to Rp500,000 are also available on lifestyle products and gadgets via SeaBank Virtual Account payments at Eraspace and Kick Avenue, along with discounts of up to Rp15,000 at GoGoGo. Shopee users can enjoy 50 percent discount vouchers up to Rp500,000 using the SeaBank Bayar Instan payment method, while top-ups for credit and data packages via the SeaBank app receive a direct discount of Rp5,000.
Sasmaya added that the promotions are a form of appreciation for customers who have been part of SeaBank’s journey. ‘We want every transaction on the SeaBank app screen to provide a fast, secure, and seamless solution,’ he said. The Serba Lima programme runs until 11 July 2026, with terms and conditions applying to payments made via SeaBank QRIS, SeaBank Virtual Account, and SeaBank Bayar Instan.
