The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi), together with telecommunications operator XLSMART, is set to provide digital empowerment for 2.4 million women through DigiHer in 2026. DigiHer is a new feature within XLSMART’s women’s digital empowerment platform, Sisternet, connected to the Digital Talent Scholarship programme from Kemkomdigi. “We want at least 2.4 million women by 2026 to gain access to this programme, so they become women and mothers who are well-literate in the digital realm, enabling them to become guardians for their families,” said Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid at the BRAVO 500 Summit 2026 organised by XLSMART in Jakarta on Thursday. DigiHer is designed as an inclusive, relevant and accessible digital learning space to help Indonesian women improve digital literacy, technological skills, productivity and readiness for digital economy opportunities. DigiHer was also created in response to internet penetration data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), which still shows a gap between female and male internet usage. The findings show that internet penetration for men has reached 82.7 per cent, while for women it stands at 78.6 per cent. Director and Chief Regulatory Officer of XLSMART Merza Fachys stated that DigiHer is XLSMART’s way of empowering women in the digitalisation era. The improvement of digital literacy and skills for Indonesian women is expected to have a broader impact, not only on individuals but also on families and larger communities. DigiHer was developed specifically by understanding the needs of Indonesian women. It does not only present learning materials but is also part of the Sisternet ecosystem, which includes communities, webinars, mentoring, networking, information on career development opportunities, and various other women’s empowerment programmes. In addition to opening educational spaces within Sisternet, XLSMART also supports digital transformation by strengthening the national connectivity foundation through enhanced 4G services and the development of 5G connectivity across various regions.
