DigiHer to Provide Digital Empowerment for 2.4 Million Women in 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi), in partnership with telecommunications provider XLSMART, is prepared to provide digital empowerment for 2.4 million women through the DigiHer initiative by 2026.

DigiHer is a new feature within XLSMART’s women’s digital empowerment platform, Sisternet, which is linked to the Digital Talent Scholarship programme from Kemkomdigi.

“We want at least 2.4 million women by 2026 alone to be able to access this programme so that they, as women and mothers, become well-literate in the digital realm. This will enable them to serve as a vanguard in protecting their families,” said the Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, during the BRAVO 500 Summit 2026 organised by XLSMART in Jakarta on Thursday.

DigiHer is designed to be an inclusive, relevant, and accessible digital learning space to help Indonesian women improve their digital literacy, technological skills, productivity, and readiness to face digital economic opportunities.

The initiative was developed in response to findings by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) regarding the ongoing gap in internet penetration between women and men.

According to these findings, internet penetration among men has reached 82.7 per cent, while penetration among women stands at 78.6 per cent.

Merza Fachys, Director and Chief Regulatory Officer of XLSMART, stated that DigiHer represents XLSMART’s method of empowering women in the era of digitalisation.

Increasing the digital literacy and skills of Indonesian women is expected to have a broader impact, not only on individuals but also on families and the wider community.

DigiHer has been specifically developed by understanding the needs of Indonesian women. Beyond providing learning materials, DigiHer is part of the Sisternet ecosystem, which includes communities, webinars, mentoring, networking, career development opportunities, and various other women’s empowerment programmes.

In addition to expanding educational opportunities within Sisternet, XLSMART is also supporting digital transformation by strengthening the national connectivity foundation through the enhancement of 4G services and the development of 5G connectivity across various regions.
