JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Several residents admit to being forced to use the services of jockeys due to difficulties in obtaining queue number barcodes for collecting subsidised food social assistance (bansos pangan bersubsidi).

To obtain the barcode, social assistance recipients must register online via the antrianpanganbersubsidi.pasarjaya.co.id website.

Without the barcode, they cannot collect the subsidised food at various Pasar Jaya outlets.

However, the public considers the process of obtaining the barcode not easy.

This situation led Rita to choose to use a jockey service to collect the assistance.

“Yes, what can you do because getting the subsidised food is not easy, you have to register online first to get the queue number barcode, it’s difficult, you have to be quick. Then when collecting, you have to queue for hours,” said Rita when met in South Jakarta on Monday.

Usually, she pays Rp 40,000 for the jockey service.

Nevertheless, Rita admits she is willing because by paying Rp 40,000, she does not have to queue for a long time at the subsidised food outlet.

She just waits at home, while the grocery package is delivered by the jockey.

The price of the subsidised grocery package is considered affordable. For KJP holders, the package costs Rp 126,000 and contains five kilograms of rice, one kilogram of meat, one kilogram of mackerel, 15 chicken eggs, and one carton of UHT milk.

With the relatively cheap price, beneficiaries tend not to want to miss the opportunity to redeem the subsidised food.

One of the social assistance jockeys, Refa (not her real name), admits that her services are in high demand because most residents have difficulty obtaining the queue barcode.

“All the reasons are the same because they can’t get the online barcode to redeem the subsidised food assistance. Because at 07:00 WIB online, by 07:03 WIB it’s already sold out, so it requires quick hands,” she said when interviewed in South Jakarta on Wednesday.
