Diesel Prices Rising Higher, Check Used Fortuner and Pajero Sport Prices
JAKARTA - The rise in non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM) prices, particularly diesel variants, is beginning to affect various consumer considerations, including in the used car market.
The spike in Dexlite and Pertamina Dex prices, now reaching Rp 26,000 and Rp 27,900 per litre respectively, has significantly increased the operational costs of diesel vehicles.
Meanwhile, at private fuel stations such as BP AKR and Vivo, diesel prices have hit Rp 30,890 per litre.
This is because both models are known to rely primarily on diesel engines, which offer efficient fuel consumption but remain sensitive to fluctuations in non-subsidised diesel prices.
In the used car market, prices for diesel Fortuners are currently stable with a fairly wide range, depending on the production year and variant. For older models like the Fortuner 2.5 G VNT AT 2013, prices are offered around Rp 253 million.
Meanwhile, younger variants like the 2.4 VRZ AT 2020 are in the range of Rp 326 million.
Interestingly, for higher and relatively new models, prices remain quite strong. The Fortuner 2.4 VRZ TRD AT 2019, for example, is still sold for around Rp 420 million, and the 2021 variant reaches Rp 453 million.
For the flagship type like the 2.8 GR Sport AT 2022, the price is still in the range of Rp 468 million.
A similar trend is observed with the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport diesel. Older models like the Pajero Sport 2.4 Dakar AT 2012 are still offered for around Rp 245 million. Meanwhile, the 4x4 AT 2017 version is in the range of Rp 374 million.
Even though diesel fuel prices have risen sharply, used diesel car selling prices have not shown a significant decline.
This indicates that demand for diesel SUVs remains relatively strong. Factors such as high torque, durability across various terrains, and the image as rugged vehicles are still the main attractions.
However, the fuel price increase could alter consumer mindsets in the future. Higher operational costs could become a new consideration, especially for daily users in urban areas.
