Diesel Prices in California Surge to Record High
Los Angeles (ANTARA) - The average price of one gallon of diesel in California, the US state with the largest economy, reached a record high of $7.455 (1 USD = Rp16,999) on Tuesday (31/3), as the US-Israel war against Iran entered its second month.
This new record surpassed the previous high of $7.012 per gallon recorded in June 2022, while also exceeding the average price across the state last week of $7.018 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association.
Meanwhile, the national average retail diesel price reached $5.454 per gallon on the same Tuesday.
Data from the California Energy Commission shows that diesel is the second largest transportation fuel in the state, contributing 17 percent of total fuel sales after petrol.
The average price of regular petrol in California also surged sharply, reaching $5.887 per gallon, up from $4.643 recorded just a month ago.
According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), California continues to record the highest fuel prices in the US due to higher taxes, stricter environmental regulations, and limited refinery capacity.
