Dieng Culture Festival 2026: Key Dates and Events
Dieng Culture Festival 2026 or DCF XVI will be held at the Dieng Highland Tourism Area in Banjarnegara, Central Java. ‘DCF this year follows the national event calendar as it is included in the Ministry of Tourism’s Kharisma Event Nusantara, so it will be held on 28-30 August 2026,’ said the Head of the Dieng Pandawa Community-Based Tourism Group (Pokdarwis), Alif Faozi, cited from Antara, Monday, 1 June 2026. The theme is ‘Spirit in Harmony’, and the committee is finalising the event schedule. The theme calls for maintaining harmony between humans, God, each other, and the environment. What events can visitors attend? One of the attractions of Dieng Culture Festival is the Jazz Atas Awan performance, usually featuring renowned musicians and impressive stage setups. Alif explained that Jazz Atas Awan will take place on the first night of the festival, with a fully jazz-focused concept. Meanwhile, the second night will feature a collaborative music performance involving various genres and other performers. Initially, the organisers had planned to separate Jazz Atas Awan as a standalone event, not part of last year’s Dieng Culture Festival. However, based on several considerations, Jazz Atas Awan is returning as part of the festival. ‘We want Jazz Atas Awan to remain alive and known by the public. Rather than not being held at all, this year we’ve revived it within the festival while seeking opportunities to hold it independently in the future with stronger partner support,’ Alif said. ‘The ruwatan is still under discussion, whether to hold it on the second or third day. The final details will be announced during the soft launching of DCF 2026 on Wednesday,’ Alif added. ‘Restrictions are in place to preserve the cultural heritage site and Dieng’s unstable terrain, ensuring the festival brings economic benefits without compromising conservation efforts,’ Alif stated.
