Didik ready for PAN race

JAKARTA: Economist-turned-politician Didik J. Rachbini has
announced his readiness to contest the leadership race at the
National Mandate Party (PAN) Congress in April.

Announcing his manifesto, Didik promised that he would create
a bridge between the PAN leadership and the party's grass roots
by promoting the development of a people-oriented economy.

He emphasized that PAN should also push for good governance,
and corruption eradication.

PAN has to find a successor to current head Amien Rais after
he announced he would quit politics last year, following the
first round of the presidential elections.

Other figures to enter the PAN leadership race include scholar
Moeslim Abdurrahman, former finance minister Fuad Bawazier, and
legislators Achmad Farhan Hamid and Afni Achmad.

PAN is the seventh-biggest political party in terms of
grassroots membership and the fifth-largest faction in the House
