The Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) administration recorded a positive achievement at the 2026 High-Achieving Regional Government Awards for the Java-Bali region. The event was held at the Marriott Hotel in Sleman, DIY, on Friday evening (4/6). The province led by Sri Sultan HB X won second place in two different categories, namely Inflation Control and Reduction of Unemployment Rate. In response to the achievement, DIY Governor Sri Sultan HB X reminded that the awards are not the final objective. According to him, the accolades serve as a catalyst to continue striving for public welfare. “Achievement is a stepping stone, not a finishing point. Tonight’s award is not a sign that the task is over, but rather a confirmation that a greater responsibility awaits,” said Sri Sultan. According to the Sultan, the measure of governmental success lies not merely in the awards obtained, but in the welfare directly felt by the community. “For ultimately, the deepest measure of governmental achievement does not stop at certificates of appreciation. It lies in more controlled prices, wider job opportunities, reduced poverty, and children growing up healthier,” the Sultan stated. Through the programme, Sri Sultan expressed hope that regional governments across Indonesia would be motivated, realising that amidst various limitations and complex challenges, service to the people can still yield achievements. He noted that well-structured governance is a long-term investment that will leave benefits for future generations. “What you have done in your respective regions is not just an achievement, but a tangible inspiration for Indonesia,” said Sri Sultan. The Province of Bali’s attainment of two top awards at the 2026 High-Achieving Regional Government Awards for Java-Bali drew praise from Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian.
