DHL launches new export service

JAKARTA (JP): International air express company DHL Worldwide Express launched a new service yesterday called USA First, for Indonesian exporters to deliver goods to the United States fast and cost-effectively.

"USA First is being introduced in response to the changing trade flows and shipping practices as Asian exporters increasingly target the US market and seek more direct, fast and cost effective ways to deliver than the traditional shipping method," Mike Fitzpatrick (left), senior technical advisor at PT Birotika Semesta/DHL, DHL's Indonesian affiliate, told reporters yesterday.

Also present at the press conference were DHL director for ASEAN Bryan Jamison (center) and the chief executive officer of Birotika Semesta/DHL, Rudi J. Pesik (right).

Fitzpatrick said the new service includes express pick-up, streamlined customs clearance and secure delivery service.

USA First is being launched across the Asia-Pacific region on Monday.

Birotika Semesta/DHL started operating in Indonesia in 1979. It currently leads the domestic courier industry with a network of 65 branch offices. It employs more than 800 people and has 250 vehicles at its disposal. (jsk)
