DHL introduces Cargoscan

JAKARTA (JP): DHL Worldwide Express has introduced Cargoscan, a device to accurately determine weight and volume of a commodity using laser technology to improve services to its Indonesian clients.

"This device is our initiative to provide optimum customer satisfaction," DHL Indonesia services technical advisor Sean Wall said in a statement.

Cargoscan is capable of handling 300 to 500 parcels per hour, with a maximum weight of 60 kilograms, he said, adding that prior to shipment each package would go through Cargoscan to determine the exact weight and metric volume of the commodity.

"Therefore, customers will not receive claim for costs incompatible with the measurements," Wall said.

DHL has been operating in Indonesia since 1973 in cooperation with PT Birotika Semesta. (tnt)
