DHL Express has noted that shipments from Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to global markets are increasingly shifting towards larger volumes. This trend reflects a growing demand for international trade and a move away from small-scale deliveries.

Poppy Ariani, Vice President Commercial of DHL Express Indonesia, stated that this increase signals a strong momentum. “With the right support, Indonesian MSMEs have the opportunity to grow faster and play a bigger role in the global market,” she said on Wednesday.

According to Ariani, the growth of the Indonesian economy and stronger global trade connectivity have placed MSMEs in a strategic position to expand their business reach and boost national exports. She highlighted that the main challenge for these businesses is no longer production capability but gaining access to global distribution and reliable logistics support that can keep pace with their expansion.

“International market demand is continuously evolving, so businesses require logistics services that are fast, consistent, competitive, and capable of maintaining delivery reliability to various destination countries,” she added.

Ahmad Mohamad, Senior Technical Advisor at DHL Express Indonesia, confirmed a clear shift in the export patterns of Indonesian MSMEs from small-scale shipments to larger, high-value volumes. He noted that this development reflects the increasing scale of international trade and the growing complexity of logistics needs, demonstrating that Indonesian businesses are not just entering global markets but are beginning to thrive within them.

To support this growth, DHL Express is strengthening its integrated logistics services, including heavy-weight cargo solutions, and positioning itself as a strategic partner for MSMEs. The company reports that approximately 40 percent of its customers are MSMEs actively developing international markets. Ahmad emphasised that the company’s focus is on building the capabilities of Indonesian MSMEs through initiatives like the GoTrade programme, aiming for consistent growth in the global market rather than merely facilitating transactions.
