The Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Interior Ministry (Kemendagri) distributed 120 food aid packages to residents affected by flooding in the Departemen Dalam Negeri Complex at Karang Mulya, Karang Tengah District, Tangerang City.

Niken Tomsi Tohir, Chairwoman of DWP Kemendagri, expressed her concern over the flooding conditions that have submerged dozens of homes and numerous residents’ vehicles.

“The situation in this complex is such that whenever it rains heavily, the flooding overflows. You’ve probably seen the videos of it. I was quite shocked and concerned,” she stated in a written statement on Saturday (14 March 2026).

She made these remarks during a visit to Posyandu Beringin I RW 08, Departemen Dalam Negeri Complex, Karang Mulya, Tangerang, Banten, on Friday (13 March).

She added that residents’ requests, such as the need for rubber boats, would be conveyed to Interior Ministry leadership so that the conditions occurring during heavy rain can receive collective attention. During this opportunity, Niken also appreciated the resilience of residents in facing the situation.

“I was truly impressed by the spirit of the women living here. If I were in their position, I would have already broken down mentally from the stress of even minor flooding,” she remarked.

As an expression of social concern and to strengthen bonds with flood-affected residents, DWP Kemendagri also distributed food aid packages to lighten the burden on residents.

“Besides strengthening our relationships with them, this is a small token of appreciation from us, hopefully received well by everyone. Please do not judge this by its monetary value, but rather as a symbol of our care and affection,” she said.

During this occasion, Niken also emphasised the importance of public health education, particularly regarding the utilisation of Posyandu (integrated health posts) to ensure proper monitoring of child development. She stressed that communities need continued education about the benefits of Posyandu.

“Stay spirited, God willing, day by day the community will also come to understand the importance of having their children vaccinated, weighed, and health-checked,” she concluded.

For information, in addition to providing aid to residents of the Departemen Dalam Negeri Complex at Karang Mulya, DWP Kemendagri also distributed Ramadan food aid packages to TK Pertiwi IV Cilandak, South Jakarta. The distribution was attended by the chairperson and members of DWP Kemendagri.
