Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perumda Dharma Jaya is intensifying the development of local cattle supplies as a strategy for diversifying food sources while also working to maintain food security in Jakarta. “We are exploring ways to strengthen food security based on local cattle,” said the Director of Perumda Dharma Jaya, Raditya Endra Budiman, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. He explained that Dharma Jaya has already partnered with cattle-producing regions, and these efforts are now being intensified. In addition to local supplies, Dharma Jaya is also reinforcing imported stocks as a precautionary measure to safeguard food security in Jakarta amid potential disruptions to global supply chains due to geopolitical dynamics and climate change. A total of 2,500 imported cattle will be available in the near future. Up to now, around 1,500 head of cattle have arrived in three shipment phases, and an additional 1,000 head will soon be delivered. “Thus, a total of 2,500 head will be available in the near future, while efforts are being made to bring in the remaining 5,000 head more quickly,” Raditya revealed. “So, we indeed have to compete to secure shipping schedules to Indonesia,” he added. Meanwhile, for poultry commodities, he assured that the chicken supply situation is relatively stable and self-sufficient. “For chicken, we are currently self-sufficient. We are also preparing further steps to strengthen supplies after Eid al-Adha,” Raditya stated. He further expressed hope that his company can continue to maintain the stability of food supplies and prices in Jakarta, while enhancing preparedness against potential global food distribution disruptions.
