Dhaka to get ADB loan

DHAKA (AFP): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is to disburse
US$40 million this month to help develop Bangladesh's capital
market, a newspaper reported here yesterday.

The amount would come out of a total aid commitment of US$80
million and was announced Tuesday by a visiting ADB team after a
primary review of reforms in Bangladesh's two stock exchanges,
the Financial Express daily reported.

The balance would be disbursed after a further review of the
ongoing reforms, aimed at bringing transparency in the trading
and settlement systems of the exchanges, it added.
