Dewa 19 Drummer Tyo Nugros Barred from Malaysia Trip Over State Debt
The drummer for legendary rock group Dewa 19, Tyo Nugros, was reported to have failed to depart for Malaysia with the rest of the band’s crew and personnel. The travel prevention occurred at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Friday, 5 June 2026, and quickly became a hot topic on social media.
Soekarno-Hatta Immigration authorities confirmed the action was taken based on an official request from the State Assets and Auction Service Office (KPKNL) Jakarta I regarding a financial obligation to the state.
Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Public Relations officer Panca explained that Tyo Nugros’s name had been entered into the travel prevention and deterrence list integrated within the Immigration Management Information System (SIMKIM). This status was automatically detected when officers scanned his passport at the departure terminal.
“The travel prevention was carried out at the request of KPKNL Jakarta I on the grounds that the individual has a substantial, unresolved obligation to the state and has not demonstrated good faith in settling it,” Panca stated on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.
Beyond being barred from flying, Tyo Nugros’s passport is currently under the supervision of the Immigration office. This measure forms part of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling overseas travel prevention cases involving state receivables.
Immigration officials advised Tyo to immediately coordinate with the relevant agency to resolve the matter. “Currently, the individual’s passport has been handed over to Immigration until the case with KPKNL Jakarta I is concluded. We advise the person concerned to report immediately to the KPKNL Jakarta I office,” Panca added.
The news of Tyo Nugros’s failure to perform with Dewa 19 in Malaysia first surfaced through a post on the Instagram account @pop.asia. As of now, Tyo Nugros is still unable to travel abroad until his obligation to the state is fulfilled and his prevention status is revoked by the requesting agency.
