Developing the Rp 116 Trillion Downstreaming Project, Prabowo: We Must Become a Sleepless Giant
JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia must become a great nation, even a world giant, serving as a role model and respected by other nations. According to him, this can be achieved by continuously boosting downstreaming, which has a very positive impact on the economy. “What I want to convey is that we must become a sleepless giant. We must become a giant that is awake, and we will awaken. We will become a great nation, believe that, I strongly believe,” Prabowo said during the groundbreaking of 13 National Downstreaming Projects Phase II in Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday (29/4/2026). The Gerindra Party chairman even admitted that he wants to live longer to witness Indonesia’s glory. “I want to live another 1,000 years because I want to see Indonesia prosperous, the Indonesian people prosperous, Indonesia respected, and proud of by other nations,” Prabowo stated. The projects include gas refineries, the construction of operational fuel oil (BBM) tanks, to the processing of palm oil into oleofood and biodiesel, spread across various regions. “Downstreaming is the only way for us to become more prosperous,” Prabowo said. The target is that in the near future, there will be six more projects to be inaugurated. “How many now, this year we will also add downstreaming, perhaps six more projects, and we will continue to add. There might be phase 4, 5, 6, God willing, this year too,” Prabowo added.
