Developers Begin to Target East-West MRT Corridor Access

The plan to develop the Jakarta MRT towards Bekasi is becoming one of the considerations for developers in developing residential areas. The connectivity plan is considered capable of strengthening the accessibility of property areas in eastern Jakarta.

Damai Putra Group Chief Marketing Officer Kelvin Lesmana said the planned presence of the MRT at the gateway of Kota Harapan Indah is one of the factors supporting the development of the area. According to him, transport connectivity complements the commercial, educational, recreational and daily needs facilities already available within the area.

“In Kota Harapan Indah, the daily needs of families are already available in one area. Starting from shopping centres, lifestyle facilities, schools to universities. Coupled with the planned presence of the MRT at the gateway of Kota Harapan Indah,” said Kelvin in Bekasi recently.

Kelvin explained that the plan to extend the East-West corridor MRT line will certainly connect Jakarta with the Bekasi area. The first phase of the line is planned to stretch approximately 24.5 kilometres from Tomang to Medan Satria, Bekasi City. The development of this corridor is also directed to support transit-oriented development (TOD).

The East-West MRT plan has been included in the mass transport development agenda for Jakarta and its buffer areas.

“In Bekasi City, the planned network covers the Medan Satria and Harapan Indah areas,” he said.

For the property sector, Kelvin continued, the presence of a mass transport network has the potential to increase accessibility and encourage changes in area development patterns. However, its impact on property values still depends on the realisation of infrastructure development and the integration of access to stations.

Damai Putra Group introduced Cresta, a new residential project with a lakeside living concept in Kota Harapan Indah. In developing the area, the company cited the planned presence of the MRT at the gateway of Kota Harapan Indah as one of the factors that will strengthen the area’s connectivity.
