Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Real Estate Developers Association (REI) has stated that the Financial Services Authority’s (OJK) policy regarding the Financial Information Service System (SLIK) is biased towards the people.

“The supportive policy from OJK today is a policy of bias towards society. It is something that is very supportive of the lower classes,” said REI General Chairman Joko Suranto in Jakarta on Monday.

Joko said that low-income communities will ultimately get broader opportunities by being able to utilise the SLIK policy.

The REI General Chairman expressed appreciation to OJK and the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) for supporting growth in the property sector in particular and ultimately for low-income communities.

“I hope what we are doing will continue, grow, and we support it; we are ready to work together with OJK with support from the PKP ministry and also BP Tapera,” he said.

Joko stated that President RI Prabowo Subianto’s 3 Million Houses Programme is a noble programme.

On the same occasion, the All-Indonesia Housing and Settlement Developers Association (Apersi) expressed that today is a happy day for low-income communities (MBR) because they are receiving special attention in obtaining subsidised housing and the SLIK issue has been resolved.

“We express our thanks to Mr Minister of PKP and Mrs Chair of the OJK Board of Commissioners for their attention to MBR, which has so far been hindered by the SLIK issue,” said Apersi General Chairman Junaidi Abdillah.

For information, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has decided that communities with credit records in the Financial Information Service System (SLIK) of Rp1 million or below can now apply for subsidised housing credit.

Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) conveyed the good news for low-income communities or MBR.

According to her, the decision is the result of a long struggle by the PKP Ministry through various meetings with OJK.

Meanwhile, OJK Board of Commissioners Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi stated that OJK fully supports the government’s priority programme in building 3 million houses for Indonesian people.

The OJK Chair also announced several strategic policies to support the acceleration of the housing programme, besides displaying SLIK records only for credit of Rp1 million and above, also updating credit repayment data a maximum of H+3 after repayment is made, providing access to SLIK data to BP Tapera to speed up the housing financing process, and affirming subsidised housing credit as a government priority programme in terms of guarantees.
