Developer waiting for response on Bekasi regency office move
JAKARTA (JP): A developer, PT Lippo Cikarang, is still waiting for a respond from the Bekasi regency over an offer to relocate the regency's administration office to the Cikarang area, eastern Bekasi.
The company's spokesperson, Jeanny L. Wullur, said PT Lippo Cikarang will provide 23 hectares of land in Cikarang for the development of the administration office of the Bekasi regency.
"We think that the land is enough for the development of infrastructure of Bekasi regency office because we have built other infrastructure, such as roads," Jeanny said on Thursday night.
The Bekasi regency's administration office is presently in the same building as the Bekasi mayoralty.
Bekasi Regent Moch. Djamhari said there was a plan to move the administration office to Cikarang early last year.
A source at the office said, however, that the land proposed by PT Lippo Cikarang is too small for the administration office.
"We need at least 50 hectares of land," the source said.
Jeanny said if the land provided by the company was not enough the regency would have to obtain the remainder itself.
She said relocating the administration office to Cikarang would benefit both the company and the regency.
The company, however, is not depending on the relocation plan, she said.
"Lippo will still continue the development of industrial and housing complexes in the Cikarang area although the plan has yet to be realized," she said. (jun)
