Developer Responds to Bedahan Residents' Protests, Acknowledges Road Damage Caused by Truck Activity
DEPOK, KOMPAS.com – PT Mitra Bangun Sepakat has issued a statement following protests by residents of RW 03, Bedahan Village, Depok City, regarding a housing development project on Bungsan Road.
Residents are protesting the road damage allegedly caused by trucks transporting soil for the project.
Project Leader of PT Mitra Bangun Sepakat, Susi Yanti Guci, said the road closure by residents first occurred in January 2026.
At that time, residents closed off a branch of Bungsan Road, which is company-owned land and is usually used as access for heavy project vehicles.
According to Susi, the situation was immediately addressed after the company contacted the police via 110 to mediate.
Susi acknowledged that there are several points of damage on Bungsan Road, including on the branch road owned by the company. Therefore, the company has planned to socialise with residents regarding plans to pour concrete and patch the damaged areas.
However, the planned socialisation, scheduled for Monday (23/2/2026), was cancelled. The day before, on Sunday (22/2/2026), residents protested again and detained the developer’s trucks.
“On Monday, we were going to do the socialisation, but it turned into a commotion, so we are meeting with the boss again and, God willing, we will reschedule a meeting with the local community soon,” said Susi.
She believes the protests have harmed the company, especially in terms of reputation.
“The protests are actually detrimental to us because they can tarnish the reputation of the housing complex. How can we sell units if we are being protested, even though the road that was closed is actually ours,” she added.
However, for the main section of Bungsan Road, the company cannot carry out repairs directly because it is an asset of the Depok City Government. Repairs will be focused on the branch of Bungsan Road, which is under the company’s jurisdiction.
“We also cannot just pour concrete on the main Bungsan Road because it is an asset of the City Government. Repairs will be carried out on the branch of Bungsan Road,” she said.
In addition, the developer has conducted surveys for the construction of a retaining wall at the project’s excavation site, which borders the land of a waqf cemetery owned by the heirs.
