Develop writing skills and city

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration is sponsoring a writing contest in connection with the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's independence in August.

The administration aims to seek input on the development of the city and is encouraging the public to participate in the process, committee chairman K. Tarigan said.

Tarigan said the essays should be presented in an "interesting style" and published in an Indonesian-language newspaper in Jakarta.

Winners will be entitled to cash prizes ranging from Rp 500,000 (US$225) to Rp 1.5 million, Tarigan said. (pan)
