Devastation in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Following Massive Fire
An observation of the site on Tuesday (2/6/2026) at 08:50 WIB showed that firefighters remained on standby around the area. Smoke could still be seen rising from the piles of burnt building materials. Residents whose homes were destroyed have begun clearing the debris, with some digging through the remains in hopes of salvaging belongings.
The residential area appears devastated, and police lines have been established at the scene. It is reported that 250 houses were burnt down, affecting 350 families. Meanwhile, traffic flow around the location has begun to return to normal.
The fire was eventually extinguished after seven hours. Firefighters received the initial report on Monday (1/6) at approximately 20:55 WIB, with firefighting operations commencing at 21:05 WIB. The operation concluded at 04:15 WIB. Three people sustained injuries due to the fire and were immediately rushed to the hospital. The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
