Detention of Former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah Deemed Appropriate, Legal Process Urged to Proceed Without Intervention

The detention of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Detention Centre, Merah Putih branch, continues to draw attention. Field Coordinator of the United Civil Society Coalition, Amri L, assessed that the investigators’ decision to detain Febrie was appropriate. He expressed hope that the legal process against the former Jampidsus would proceed professionally without any intervention from any party. “We hope that the law enforcement process against suspect Febrie Adriansyah can proceed as it should and without intervention from any party,” Amri said on Saturday, 25 July 2026. Amri considered the case implicating Febrie to be ironic, given that the individual is a law enforcement officer. “We also urge the KPK to uphold the law and try the former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah transparently for the sake of the supremacy of just law enforcement,” he stated. He also urged that the alleged money laundering (TPPU) case involving Febrie be thoroughly investigated as part of efforts to eradicate corruption. Separately, the United Civil Society Coalition also held a protest coinciding with Febrie’s detention at the KPK Merah Putih Detention Centre. During the action, the crowd lit candles as Febrie arrived in a prosecutor’s office detention vehicle. The candle-lighting was described as a symbol of hope for the upholding of justice. “We convey this purpose full of hope, by lighting the candle flame of justice as a symbol of hope, truth, and moral spirit to fight against darkness or injustice,” he said. Amri described the action as a form of resistance against injustice. It was previously reported that the former Jampidsus was officially detained after undergoing questioning as a suspect in an alleged money laundering case at the Attorney General’s Office on Friday, 24 July 2026. Febrie was subsequently placed in custody at the KPK Merah Putih Detention Centre. However, Febrie appeared different from other detainees as he was not wearing a detainee vest or handcuffs when he was taken to the detention centre.
