Detention of Doctor Richard Lee Extended Until June, Here's the Reason
Jakarta, VIVA – Polda Metro Jaya has once again extended the detention of suspect Doctor Richard Lee in the case involving beauty products and treatments.
The Head of the Public Information and Documentation Sub-Section of Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Andaru Rahutomo, stated that the detention extension will be until June 2026.
“The individual (DRL) is detained, and the detention has been extended until 4 May 2025. I would like to inform you that from 5 May to 3 June 2026, the detention period for suspect DRL has been extended. We have submitted this to the District Court (PN) for the extension of detention,” said Andaru at Polda Metro Jaya, quoted on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
Furthermore, Andaru explained that this extension of the detention period is due to the case file for the suspect still being in the completion stage at the Banten Attorney’s Office.
“Regarding the reason for the extension, during the process of completing the case file, on 31 March, the investigators sent the initial case file to the Banten Attorney’s Office. However, in the process, there was a P19 on 13 April from the Prosecutor’s Office,” said Andaru.
“In that process, the investigators are completing the deficiencies in evidence, physical evidence, witness statements, hence there are additional examinations and a series of other investigative actions to gather facts. However, alhamdulillah, on 23 April, the case file has been resubmitted by the investigators to the Banten Attorney’s Office,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Andaru emphasised that to date, there is no suspension of detention for Richard Lee. The individual is still detained at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Centre.
“There are some issues about whether DRL has been suspended or whether his detention has been transferred to the Attorney’s Office. I can confirm that to date, suspect DRL is still detained at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Centre. If there is information about suspension, I state that there is no suspension of detention for suspect DRL,” he stressed.
It is known that the South Jakarta Metro Police determined Doctor Detective (Doktif) Samira Farahnaz as a suspect over a report filed by Doctor Richard Lee regarding a violation of the ITE Law Article 27A on defamation, on 12 December 2025.
Then, Doktif was not detained, but subjected to reporting obligations. This is due to the element of punishment under the article being less than five years or detached from objective elements.
