DeTect Secures Contract to Supply MERLIN™ True3D® Bird Detection Radar to Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport

Panama City, Fla. (ANTARA/PRNewswire) - DeTect, Inc. has secured a contract to supply its MERLIN 7360 True3D Bird Detection Radar to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. MERLIN is the most advanced and widely used bird radar system, with over 600 units deployed globally for aviation safety and bird conservation. The technology was originally developed for the US Air Force and NASA, and is currently used by them to detect and provide alerts on hazardous bird and drone activity in and around airfields. The system is also operational at commercial airports in Canada, the European Union, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

The Jakarta installation will feature 7360 True3D radars positioned at the ends of both runways, providing full 360-degree, three-dimensional coverage of the airfield and surrounding airspace. It will deliver automated displays and alerts on high-risk bird activity to monitors in bird control vehicles, airfield operations, and the control tower. The system will be manufactured in the United States, while the project will be managed by DeTect’s Asia Pacific regional office in South Korea.
